What key health measure is the best predictor of how long you will live?
- Blood pressure
- Blood sugar levels
- Cholesterol levels
- Level of fitness
- Waist measurement
The answer is number four—level of fitness. You can reduce your risk of death (even if you haven't lost weight) if you maintain or improve your level of fitness. These results, based on a study of 14,345 men with an average age of 44, were reported in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association. "This is good news for people who are physically active but can't seem to lose weight," said Duck-chul Lee, PhD, the study's lead researcher.
